Bootcamp Peeps.......

 6pm Bootcamp Babes

 2013 Running the hill

The picture below was of us last year when we ran the hill at McHose!

2012 Running the hill

5 on Friday..........

1.  Bootcamp this week started with a trip to McHose Park in Boone to run the skating pond hill.  2 1/2 miles later we finished our sprints.  My poor calves have taken the brunt of my hardwork.  Today I finally woke up and my calves weren't killing me.

2.  Wednesday RJ and I took Gracie to her Pre-K open house at Sacred Heart School.  She was so excited and it went very well.  She jumped right in and played with the other kids.  At first she kind of looked around at all of them and then turned around and started cleaning up all the toys that were lying all over the floor.  She enjoyed meeting her teacher and I was pleased that I knew several of the parents.

3.  RJ's schedule has changed once again.  Someone at work got hurt and will be out for 10-12 weeks, so RJ will be covering for him working the 11pm-7am shift, Sunday -Thursday.  This actually works out great for us with getting ready to move.

4.  Lucie fell outside on Tuesday night and skinned her knee pretty bad.  This has made bath time not very fun since we have to be very careful not to break her leg as she put's it.  Applying and reapplying ointment and band-aids has been a constant thing this week.

5.  Thank God it's Friday.  Alex has basketball games all weekend and we are looking forward to just hanging out as a family watching him and packing while at home.  Of course there isn't much else to do since it's May 3rd and SNOWING.............

5 on Friday...........

I am going to take what my great friend Kara does on her blog every Friday and post 5 things that have happend this week in the Vodenik household....

1.  We put an offer in on a house last Wednesday April 17th and it was accepted!!  It is a super cute little 3 bedroom house here in Boone with a great yard!  We can't wait to get out of the apartment complex we have been in since last August.  It will be great for us to be in a home where we have privacy and our children can play outside without being bombarded by everyone around.

2.  Wednesday was secretaries day but we were very busy in our office so we are celebrating today by going to Carlos O' Kelly's in Ames for lunch.  It should be fun and it is always something I look forward to each year.

3.  My sister Kari is 30 weeks prego this week.  She is going to have a little boy "Beau", and we are all eagerly awaiting his birth, this being her first baby.

4.  Both girls are totally excited that the weather is getting a little nicer so that they are able to play outside.  Being crammed in our tiny apartment has been hard on them all winter.

5.  Tonight will be our first night at "Ledges" for the year for Bootcamp.  Although I am dreading it, I am also looking forward to being outside in the fresh air tonight!!!!!!

A new beginning........

It's been a very long time coming, February 18th this year RJ started a new job at Amcor Plastics in Ames, IA.  He is working 12 hour shifts, 4 on 4 off.  He loves it.  He is already excelling.  The past two years have been very difficult on him.  He felt as though he wasn't providing for our family.  I told him that even on disability he brings home more than I do and he just smiled.  I want him to know that not once has the thought crossed my mind that he let us down, or wasn't doing all that he could do.  I hope he never has to go through anything like this again.  He is such an amazing man with such strength and compassion.  I am proud to be his wife and raise our children together.  I try to remind him that all this time he had to be home was precious time with our little girls.  Even though some days were very hard for him, and hard on them to see him have seizures, he still was able to be with them for the first couple of years of their life.

I did my first St. Patrick's 5k Bar run last weekend in Des Moines.  It was a ton of fun and I went with a fun group of my peeps.  We all dressed up in costume and headed down to the race.  Ok it really wasn't a "timed" race, but we still did our fair share of actual running.  On the day of the race it was down pouring all day, which made it interesting.  Many of us were wearing ponchos over our costumes but we still had a blast!

Friday night fights......

A couple of weeks ago RJ & I went to the MMA fights in Des Moines with his brother Travis and his fiance Amy.  We had a blast!  This is a picture taken of us that night!!

Another successful bootcamp....

This is our 6pm bootcamp class.  We made it through a year together!!  This coming Friday is our last class for this session (first one this year).  I will post my yearly results then!  I have developed such a bond with these girls and I couldn't have done it without them!!
